An entreprenuer with high integrity can inspires trust and trust is the fundation of the leadership. Like John Maxwell points out in his The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership book: “Who You Are Is Who You Attract!”
If an entreprenuer wants to build a truly long-lasting business, he must be able to run his business with integrity and hire people with high integrity. He must be genuine in his words, deeds and actions! As Abraham Lincoln said, “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.”
Integrity must be built daily, Confucius told others about his 4 worries, “Neglect of moral cultivation, neglect of learning and practising what has been learned, failure to following what is right, and failure to correct what is wrong.” One of Confucius’ disciples Zengzi said, “I examine myself three times daily: Have I been faithful in doing things for others? Have I been trustorthy in contacts with friends? Have I reviewed and practised what my teacher has taught me?” The goal is to constantly reflect on one’s words, deeds and actions to ensure they follows one’s values and beliefs. Remember, “There is no right ways to do the wrong thing.”
Integrity is often associated with honesty. However, there is a fundamental difference between integrity and honesty. Spencer Johnson said this the best, “Integrity is telling myself the truth; And honesty is telling the truth to other people.”
